We believe in offering our customers the very best tasting meat available, which is why we focus much of our energy on organic. Organic meat is not only more flavorful, but it also helps promote greater overall health for our families and better care for the environment.
The ethics of humane animal husbandry are also important to us... we work with some of the best farmers in Western Canada and are very confident about the quality of treatment our animals have received.
Organic meat means:
- Animals are raised with no antibiotics or growth hormones
- No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in the growing of the animals' feed
- Animals are fed from crops grown on land which has been free of any chemical sprays and pesticides for a minimum of 3 years
- No Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) are permitted in the animals' feed
- No Animal By-Products are ever permitted in the animals' feed
- Farmers must monitor their soil and water quality at all times
- Independent third party audits are required by an accredited organic certifying body
- A thorough audit trail is required so that all certified organic products can be traced back to the farm of origin
Our organic products meet all strict standards set out by the BC Organic Association. Please ask to see the organic certificates which we proudly carry from each of our farmers.
